At Vullow, we consider you part of our family, and we want to make sure you have the best experience with our painting technique. While our tutorial videos are a great way to get started, here are a few tips from me to help you along the way:
Tip 1: Start with the Right Photo
A great painting begins with a great photo! The images in the Vullow projector software library are already perfect for painting. If you’re using your own photos (with a subscription), make sure to choose one with good clarity. You can also enhance the photo using an AI app or adjust the settings with a photo editor to get the best result.
Tip 2: Practice Makes Perfect
Vullow is known for helping you improve quickly! Don’t worry if it feels challenging at first – the more you paint, the easier it becomes. Every new attempt makes you a better artist!
Tip 3: Work Backwards for Clarity
After working from light to dark, try working your way back by starting with layer 5 and ending with layer 1. The darker colors can make it hard to see where to paint, so consider dimming your workspace or using a small piece of white paper above your work to help you see the projected light more clearly. This will help you stay within the lines and ensure better results. If needed, you can always go over any areas that don’t look quite right.
Tip 4: Fixing Mistakes
If you’re not happy with a specific section of your painting, no worries! Simply paint over it with the original canvas color (white or light grey) and start again with the six layers from light to dark just for that part. It’s that simple!
Tip 5: Adjust Your Settings
Before you hit “PAINT” in the Vullow app, make sure to adjust the light/dark settings to suit your painting. Check that layers 1 and 2 are clearly visible on the face – not just the background. If they’re not, remove the background from your photo and replace it with a neutral grey. This will help the lightest colors show up on the face and create a better result.
